The Chafyn Grove team, consisting of 10, Tom Campbell (C), Olly Hartwell, Henry Lloyd-Baker, Archie Nash, Harry Shardlow, Inigo House, James Kitson, Jake Marchment, Thomas Barrett and Conor Price took to the Lee Valley pitches with a certain amount of trepidation, an unknown tournament at the amazing facility, but set about their task. In the morning, playing Ballard School, Langley Prep and Lewes they played confidently, if not slightly reserved, to gain 3 wins from 3 games. A loss of focus against Langley Prep very nearly allowed them a sight of a draw which would have made qualification for the finals more difficult.

The afternoon presented a different mental challenge, the scoring systems meant that to play in a final, the only way to guarantee it was to win every game, the boys took this on board and stepped their game up, using the whole of the pitch to create chances and to finish the chances with greater success. Another 3 wins were strung together to earn a final game against Langley Prep once more.

This challenge was an interesting one, the Chafyn boys really went for the result, some lapses in defensive concentration made it interesting for coaches and parents as Langley had their chances, but ultimately the sheer weight of numbers attacking the opposition goal resulted in a single goal being bundled over the line which it turned out would be enough. A well-deserved win a reward for consistent hockey throughout the day and a thoroughly amazing experience.
