Whether you just want to understand your camera’s full ability and take better images, or make it a full-time hobby or future career, it is well worth investing in a course or workshop to receive hands-on learning from a professional photographer… and a warm welcome awaits you!

With the popularity of ‘real’ photography, and the growing numbers of amateur photographers hoping to move away from their camera’s limiting ‘automatic’ controls, photography courses and workshops are fast becoming popular with all ages.

Are you picture perfect? If not, let Sally Edwards Photography help you achieve your dream. In her photography courses and workshops, or on a one-to-one basis, Sally provides hands-on expert guidance to photography enthusiasts, whether a complete beginner or aspiring professional, in taking control of their camera to capture memorable images.

All courses and workshops are limited to six people. Teaching small groups means Sally is on hand at all times to offer individual practical advice on all areas including exposures, light and composition.

Sally’s aim is not simply to improve your photography skills but to ensure you have a great time in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere in pleasant surroundings.

She provides a platform for you to continue your newfound skills through progression courses and workshops, club events and photography tours, which provide the perfect environment for her to inspire you to reach new creative heights.

For those who have already been through the beginner programme, a new Intermediate Course is on offer from this September at The Granary Studio, Britford, Salisbury. It will consolidate everything learnt on the Beginners programme by focussing on specific areas of photography

–  including portraits, landscapes and still life, among others, to help client’s progress and expand their creativity.

After the course/workshop, there is the opportunity to join her client Photography Club where you’ll meet and exchange ideas with like-minded enthusiasts on a variety of photo shoots and events.

During the past year, club members have visited Stourhead, Round the Island Yacht Race, The Hawk Conservancy, Bluebell woods and Snowdrop gardens, Gurston Hill Climb, South Bank, London, Corfe Castle and Kimmeridge Bay, The Vintage Nostalgia Festival, and the annual Photography Show at the NEC. Summer and winter socials are also enjoyed by members.

Sally said: “Starting this Autumn, I am organising new Photography Tours for my clients. Our first tour will be to photograph the Cornish coast and surrounding countryside. A taste of the local area will be included, with a visit to a local vineyard or beer/cider making companies, with visits to local attractions.”

Group workshops and the one-to-one tuition are available for Young Photographers aged 12 to 18 years. A camera and a keen interest in photography is all that is required.

Sally is now expanding to a new venue at the Woodlands Studio, Sandydown, near Stockbridge. Her Beginner Course, which has run successfully in Salisbury for the past two and a half years, will now include daytimes and evenings, at both studios, from September.

With the expansion of her business, Sally is delighted to welcome Chantel Fudge on board to help with marketing

and organisation of her courses and workshops, regular review sessions, her client Photography Club and the new tours.

Chantel said: “I am very excited to have the opportunity to help Sally develop her business. I attended the beginner’s course to develop my skills and knowledge, and I understand that taking the first step to learn the art of photography can be a bit daunting.

“Sally made the experience fun and enjoyable and I am now keen to encourage others to experience the benefits of attending one of her courses and workshops, and step into the wonderful world of ‘real’ photography!”

Driving through beautiful Hampshire countryside to Sally Edwards’ Woodlands Studio near Stockbridge – who wouldn’t be inspired to pick up a camera?

My dusty camera bag had to be rummaged from the back of a wardrobe and I set off wondering how antiquated my 12-year-old Canon digital SLR would look these days. I’ve lost track of how long it’s been since I last used it properly.

In the peace and quiet of her studio, Sally patiently pieced together my jumbled-up memories of how to operate a camera.

Learning photography can seem intimidating, the technical know-how takes time to grasp. We covered a lot of ground – and Sally ensured every step was understood.

Sally’s years of teaching experience and her genuine enjoyment of photography make this a very special workshop. I left looking forward to the next time I pick up my camera. Even a 12-year-old Canon has lots of scope for that elusive ‘perfect photo’. I will never leave it so long to pick up my camera bag again!
